Aga Khan Foundation Canada: Committed to enhancing health outcomes in women and children

The AQCESS (Access to Quality Care through Extending and Strengthening Health Systems) project, managed from 2016–2020, aimed to enhance maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes for about 1.4 million individuals in specific regions of Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, and Pakistan.

Map of the four countries measured in the AQCESS study; Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, and Pakistan.

Leading the way through accessible healthcare services and education

Under the leadership of Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC ), AQCESS worked to expedite the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity by enhancing the availability and utilization of vital healthcare services for expectant mothers, infants, and children under five.

Using data visualization to show the impact of AQCESS

Throughout the project’s duration, comprehensive baseline (B) and endline (E) assessments were carried out, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative analyses. The resulting data was then transformed into a series of infographics using data visualization techniques. These infographics aimed to offer a clear and accessible overview of AQCESS program strategies and accomplishments, fostering discussions about the project’s overall impact concerning its key performance indicators.

Sharing the story of AQCESS through data and brand

Adhering to the Aga Khan Foundation Canada visual identity guidelines, we crafted a new visual language to narrate the transformative journey of data within communities AKFC serves. Emphasizing clarity and brevity enhanced the data’s capacity to be quickly understood at-a-glance. The end result is a branded experience that uses raw data to emphasize the overarching impact of the AQCESS programming within the communities it serves.
