“Our digital response has been critical to overcome the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The updates to this secure, easy to use digital tool will continue to help slow the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of Canadians. The more of us who use the app, the more effective it will be, so I encourage all Canadians to do their part and download the COVID Alert app today.”
The Hon. Joyce Murray
Minister of Digital Government

As Canadian provinces progress through lockdown measures, the focus of the Public Health Agency of Canada was to support and inform Canadians about the latest safety measures to help prevent potential future outbreaks of COVID-19. The COVID Alert app is designed to let Canadians know whether they may have been exposed to the virus.
We developed a visual language to promote the app, raise awareness, and to encourage participation. The colourful palette, relatable illustrations, and positive tone of messaging was spread wide across all mediums and locations from clinics, pharmacies, and schools to grocery stores, restaurants, and public offices. The goal was to empower the app users to protect themselves, their loved ones, community, small businesses, and so many more.
